What is NLP?
Is how to use the language of the mind to consistently achieve our specific and desired outcomes.
Dilts and Delozier define it as "the study of the structure of subjective experience, NLP studies the patterns or 'programming' created by the interaction between the brain, language, and the body. It is this interaction that produces both effective and ineffective behavior, and is responsible for the processes behind both human excellence and pathology (Byron Lewis)."
In NLP, the concious mind is what sets the goals, and the unconcious mind is what gets them accomplished. However, many times in life we say we want certain things, but we're not successful in obtaining them.
If we're speaking in terms of health and fitness, if there was something you could change, or a habit you could break, what would it be?
- Would you like to have a healthier relationship with your body and the way you see yourself?
-Would you like to stop eating unhealthy foods, or purchasing foods that are counter-intuitive to your goals?
-Do you need more motivation and desire to exercise?
Whatever unhealthy habits or patterns you're exhibiting, it's because your unconscious brain thinks that's what you want.
NLP gives you the tools and empowerment to communicate with your unconscious -it's "like a user’s manual for the brain, and taking an NLP training is like learning how to become fluent in the language of your mind so that the ever-so-helpful “server” that is your unconscious will finally understand what you actually want out of life." NLP is the study of excellent communication–both with yourself, and with others. It was developed by modeling excellent communicators and therapists who got results with their clients. NLP is a set of tools and techniques, but it is so much more than that. It is an attitude and a methodology of knowing how to achieve your goals and get results. (nlp.com)
